Covert Investigation on Kytreon

H.4.X sighed and looked at Reiji's leg "Your leg isn't pointing in the right direction Reiji. Also according to that I.D number and tag he was a soldier, at least at some point. He had access to the tech like other soldiers would." H.4.X assumed things hadn't changed since he left, but he could be wrong, he hadn't paid much attention to Novalyse since his departure.

:: reiji Looked at his leg:: Its just a dislocation of my Hip join and pelvis, nothing that needs a medic wasting resources on. And their obviously a majority of soldiers, but once you leave an army you ussualy dont retain access to the inventory. :: reiji would wince alittle and flex his legs muscles and there'd be a rather loud snappy sound his leg would violently reorient, with Reiji giving a slight shudder:: I hate that feeling..... actually feels like nails on a chalk board

Sergeant Steele spoke up for the first time since their arrival, calmly and respectfully answering the question as he looked at the ID in approach.  

"If I am not mistaken Sir, that ID shows to be current.  Likely from one of the nearby Vanguards posted in Kytreon. Sir."  

Spears closed her eyes and gave a faint cant of her head.
"His ID number is still active.  He didnt leave the military nor did he need to bypass civilian or discharged Veteran access procedures to access that weaponry."

Holloway scoffed. "Worse than a deserter, then. This was an inside job." He scanned the area instinctively, guessing that this rebel could still have friends around. "We should get the injured out and re-secure the area. The whole town. Every nook and cranny."

H.4.X nodded at Holloway and spoke to his sniper team "Survey the town for any movement besides us, if you pick anything up tell me." He looked at his other four men and said "You four too, move together and move quickly. If you see anything do not engage until informing us."

::Reiji stood up:: Well then, I suggest a review of all Novalysian soldiers stationed here, cross check it against the bodies and those that made it out. We need to try and figure out what numbers we're actualy looking at here

"Surveying the premises is out of our jurisdiction, Cayrn Company is to handle all security sweeps unless given direct orders from General Axon or higher," she said as she grabbed the ID tag and ripped it from the rebel's neck. "Steele, bind his arms. We're moving out of Akrai as soon as you finish."

Steele gave formalities as he moved to complete his task. When he knelt down in profile beside he rebel he fixed his wrists with Augmentation Durable cuffs. Kneeling on one knee he heaved the dead wait of the enemy onto his shoulder before forcing himself from the ground.

Spears turned to Reiji before motioning for the group to move back toward the outskirts of the settlement. "Comparing the archives of Kytreon's deployment would be an exhaustion of resources and time. Both of which we are currently lacking. We will be continuing to the base and deal with the situation from there."

Sakada's voice calmly came over the comm unit after the initial buzz of wounded reports and status updates quieted down.

"If I may, Major Spears, I'd like to request that either myself or a member of an investigations team accompany the security sweep. This is still a very pivotal crime scene and I'd like to know that we are preserving as much evidence as possible before it is lost."

:: Reiji shrugged:: This is your show Spears.
:: he'd stretch his leg and bend his knee a few tyimes before following the others out::

Sakada sensed from Spears' hesitation that he would have to work harder to sell his request.

"Major, keeping even the smallest bit of evidence intact may be the difference between apprehending and bringing these criminals to justice later, whether or not we can find them now. This is an active investigation and it could be our only chance. My team won't slow you down."

Spears sighed.

"We will leave one of your team to preserve the potential evidence the rest of you will make your way to the escort and head for HQ. Select your 'representative' quickly, and move out."

Steele stood unphased, holding the clearly 150 lbs plus augments weight rebel on his shoulders. When Spears gave the order he moved ahead of the 'delegates' and lead the tactical relocation.

Reiji within a few moments was walking with normal stride. :: over a private channel to his partner:: " these Novalysians compartmentalize too much,we're relocating, if they simply utilyzed their ships processing power and Slaved the processors of the other ships there'd be no problem having that cross check done.... I should be doing this Solo"
Sei " Reiji, there are possibly more hostages and other delicate matters here, this is as much a politcal mission both toward novalyse and the rebels. Its fairly apparent that were this mission simply search and destroy or covert assassination you'd be fine, but your hostage rescue went anything but smooth. We are guests here for support, our orders are to follow the chain of command here unless we see a clear and present danger to Cascadia, her allies, or the Sector as a whole. Next time theres a hostage situation maybe you listen to me about your tunnel vision.

Reiji- " what ever you say, we weren't given full disclosure of information, hell i bet they didn't even do a full inventory of the bodies found and their armories. their sloppy, but I will follow further orders to the letter, sIr

Spears didn't say anything as they continued toward the escort's location, behind her shattered mask her face grimaced of frustration. A glance was caught between her and Steele who was leading them back through the streets, from the dark expressions it was clear that neither one of them was particularly happy, or even satisfied with what was going on.

After some time Axon's shuttle returned to the capital and he was seen via NCN broadcasting exiting through the Capital Wall space docks and entering the building. He looked serious, moving quickly into the building and out of sight.

How could they have missed anyone within that settlement, they ensured everything was secured before approving the landing location, he thought as he walked back to through to a large set of wooden doors. He knocked heavily on the doors and waited, eventually leaning one arm overhead against the door frame. Still not responding...

"General, it's commander Axon reporting from Kytreon sir, awaiting your orders sir." Silence came from the other side of the door, even after waiting several long minutes no answer came. Axon sighed heavily and pushed himself away from the doors, I don't know how long I can hold this mission together.

Sakada was disheartened that only "one" of his team would be permitted to stay behind. There was no telling how the area would be secured for investigation, or what they might lose for the sake of speed and efficiency. Nonetheless, he didn't back down, and called off his other investigators so he could stick with the group himself. This high-stake crime scene was too hostile...and perhaps too interesting...for him not to want to see every bit of it that he could.

Quietly, so as not to disrupt the operation, he followed along with the 'tactical relocation'. He was a keen and observant man, and studied the reactions of his fellow responders almost as closely as he did the area around him as he worked quickly to document anything worth noting on his datapad.

H.4.X was well used to how Novalysian command worked, and knew when to disagree and when to not, so he followed orders and called his men off the survey he ordered them to do. They followed along with the orders given to them, as they were told to do back at O.M.N.E. Any disagreements here could flare relationships with Novalyse and the corporation and the board would have none of that. They used the small cams and recording devices on and in their armor to take note of all that transpired around them, and knew enough to not get in the way of the more experienced investigators and their jobs.

Sei would come over Spears personal comm- I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking this but since no ones outwardly said it, it may be a due course of action to sequester the novalysian survivors,If the one rebel encountered here was active Novalyse military, its possible some of the wounded and survivors rescued from the scene may be rebels. I'd also be interested in what our course of action at this point is? The knowledge that the rebels where within the ranks of active personnel should be kept very close the our chest, if it got out it would be 2 fold. The rebels would know we found out and could accellerate their actions and it would likely rapidly spread through civilians and cause upheaval.

Steele heaved the man off his shoulders into one of the vehicles of the escort, the ramp lowered of one of the personnel transports as the rest of the group followed. Guards stood weapons drawn watching in all directions as Steele turned back and ushered the foreign investigators onto the transport. Spears stepped onto the ramp and ducked beneath the railing and found a seat along the side of the military transport. The vehicle was dark on the inside, with chairs lining the sides of its hall separated only by curved bars for holding while traversing rough terrain. At the head of the hall, near the drivers seats, was heavy metal doors with weapons lockers on either side. The armored truck rolled on treads, not tires, fitting for the usual rough roads it traversed. Steele motioned to the driver that they were all inside before stepping in the transport just before the ramp closed.

Spears sat facing the foreigners, clearly frustrated but still trying to be mindful of her actions. She looked to H.A.X, who's silence only made her think he's been away from the nation far too long. When Sei spoke she motioned to the upcoming escort and waited to speak until all were inside.

"I will ensure the orders are issued once we reach headquarters, in the mean time the survivors remaining on the surface have already been taken into military custody for medical care so there won't be a problem maintaining that." She furrowed her brow slightly as she continued. "This mission, due to its importance and political involved is being closely monitored and overseen by the standing General Axon, who despite his capabilities in leading a company, has little experience in a sectrum as broad as this. Things are, unfortunately, being run by a novice and therefore are barely functioning at all. I was not assigned to lead this as an investigation, but a protection mission, to keep you alive." She paused briefly and watched them. "We can move forward in two ways, the first being you stay where it is safe and secure and I follow my orders without question. . . or the second is we get to the bottom of this terrorist attack, and possibly lose lives in the process."

"We're not here to get babysat," Holloway quipped. "Lives have already been lost. We need a permanent fix to this while your government f -"

"With all due respect," one of Sakada's investigators politely overran Holloway, "we're here on a political level to run damage control. We have to trust that we are only one part of a large network of other operations, and stick to our orders so we don't interfere with the bigger picture."

Sei spoke up again: I think I speak for a number of people here when I say we all knew that our lives were at risk coming. We're here to contain a volatile situation and keep more "civilian" lives from being lost. Now I know there are a number of people here that are simply investigators and not accustomed to combat or covert operations. I say we get to the bottom of this quickly before it spreads offworld, and if it has already we can hopefully get intel on their aim.

H.4.X spoke up finally "My orders are to aid in the investigation in anyway me and my men can, putting our lives on the line is in our job description. If we can get to the bottom of this, I say we do it, regardless of the risk to ourselves."

The carrier jolted forward, shaking Spears as she held the bars alongside the seats. Steele stood without holding anything, seeming much more accustomed to the motions of the vehicle. Outside the carrier rushed through the grasslands, passed sparse trees and over hills. The ride was long, but smooth for a time until the rig suddenly jolted and shook. Steele grabbed a hold of a bar near the ramp as the carrier shook and turned.

"Off roads." he said to the others. "Hold on."

Soears nodded to the others in the vehicle as they went.

"I understand some of you may not be as eager to go our own way in this, that's fine. There is plenty of 'work' once we reach the base. I for one, don't intend to sit idly by and babysit anyone while those bastards are out killing." she said bluntly, eyes briefly resting on Sakada.

An hour an a half passed before the transport came to a halt, the driver exchanged words with the guards of the compound, and the gates creeked open. On the outside it appeared to be some kind of warehouse with a single large building in the center of a fenced, gated, and guarded lot. The hour drew late and the sun was setting behind the base when they arrived. The carrier was ushered inside the mostly empty building. The ramp opened when it came to a stop, inside were crates and other carriers, nothing fancy. Steele was the first to step off the transport and give clearances to the guards surrounding the rig. They nodded and he turned and motioned for the investigators to exit.

Sakada was entirely unphased by the harsh criticism, filtered or not, from the rest of the group. He knew his job, and wasn't about to bypass his own responsibilities to go commando - this was not at all a lack of courage or caring about the situation, but was simply because he knew that he was only a single link in a much larger chain, and could only play his own role.

"My team and I are content to run intel from base," Sakada informed Spears politely. "There's more than enough data for us to go over in the meantime, and perhaps we can make some sense of this and pinpoint our suspects."

Sakada and his team exited and produced their ID's. Holloway and the others were much more anxious; they readily announced to Spears that they were along for the ride and ready to take whatever orders were given to put these terrorists back in their place.

Having made their position clear, the Securion team let the other groups keep talking. They had orders and they would follow them. Aid in the investigation do as the Novalysians told them, and as much as H.4.X hated that, he would do it. It was obvious he wanted to do more hunting of terrorists that sitting around and sifting through data, but whatever was decided it what he would do.

H.4.X and his group would purposefully wait to be the last foreign team to leave the vehicle, if they needed to do so

The dignitaries were all checked in one by one by one of the guards.  They began to unload the equipment and taking it to a platform off centered in the warehouse.  Once they were all checked in they were lead under heavy escort to a elevator guarded by two soldiers armed with fully automatic high caliber rifles.  Spears paid the two men no mind and went ahead into the elevator while Steele issued them clearances from Axon.  Once the paperwork was verified the dignitaries were allowed to enter the elevator and travel deeper into the base.

The lift creeked as it descended further into the base.  The level number displayed at the top of its hall began counting beyond the destinations listed on the console as it continued further beneath the Kytreon surface to the main portion of this base.  Spears crossed her arms and rested against the wall of the elevator as it descended.  Steele glanced around at the faces of the others as he stood arms behind his back in rest.  The doors hissed open revealing soldiers, police, contracted informants, and officers traveling in a large room segmented into several different parts.  Steele turned to Sakada gesturing him and his men to follow him to the information and data investigation within the hall.  Spears stepped quickly off the elevator and motioned for the others to follow.  She took a cut through the cubicles and lines of data net screens open attempting to hack into the signals sent out by possible suspects, others have military personnel records open for suspects.  As they walked by some may notice a young man resembling General St. John among the list of possible suspects.  He looked thirty years younger, two side by side images both he is buzz cut, the first he looked semi normal, the second his face was noticeably scarred across the bridge of his nose through the center between his eyes.  The second both eyes were replaced with blue ocular implants, his express blank and incomprehensible.  Bannered over the second image a red stripe clearly stating MIA covered part of the lower half of the image.  Spears did not stop as they passed these dataconsoles, giving the only a few moments for anyone to notice the very interesting piece of information.

Spears led them down a long maze of halls, turning without much warning and expected the others to keep up.  It wouldn't be hard to get separated from her as her pace was quick and steady.  She kept going, turning right, left, then walking straight for a distance before turning left again to what looked like a dead end.

Sei and Reiji followed Spears close, both taking notice of everything around them without breaking stride.::
