The Colony World of Cascadia

CASCADIA

The system: The Cascadia system is a rather inhospitable one at first glance. An incredibly dense pulsar star called Azure 99 is the system center. Due to its immense energy output the 2 closest planets where destroyed over time causing their material become a inner belt of asteroids  just between it and the 3rd giant  exo planet, the  only habitable planet in the system. Cascadia. UPDATE: After years of instensive research it has been found that several other planets within the Azure 99 system are habitable with minor to major terraforming projects.

The planet: Cascadia is a large earth like atmosphere world. Due to the metal composition of the core and the spin  of the inner  material vs outer core material 1 being ferrous and a positive charge the other being non ferrous and negatively charged it has a very strong magnetic field  and due to the star it orbits having a heavy pulsar cascade the energy is pulled into the poles where it travels through the crust and mantle. This causes the planet to be almost lifeless save for immediately around the equator where vegetation is plentiful and a large ocean covers most of the planets northern hemisphere save for small islands that seem to spawn  incredibly powerful storms due to the stars cascading energy. The southern hemisphere is a giant  wasteland, covered in huge deep canyons and fissures  created by the opposing cascade energy at night these fissures glow a deep blue. The planet also has 3 moons none are habitable but are incredibly dense and the gravity from these moons coupled with the dynamo effect of the planet core  create a shield ( somewhat) that allows it to support life in such close proximity to its star. It also causes the pressure in both northern and southern hemispheres to be very intense. In the north it causes deep thermal vents in the ocean, in the south the fissures seem to grow a metallic mineral. In truth what is happening is the magnetism paired with the cascading energy is melting the metals of the planet and purifying it while pushing it out of the walls of the fissures. The poles are also  constantly bombarded by meteors due to the magnetism. This phenomenon basically creates a conveyor belt of  minerals being excreted to minerals being replenished. The colonists of Cascadia have utilized the northern ocean for energy  from the geothermal vents and the fertile water for fishing and rejuvenating soil for farming while they mine the southern fissures for the metal which they named cascadium . The metal is very light weight and durable for its weight, by taking painstaking and slow refinement methods the cascadium can be reshaped almost grown into shapes  by using magnetism and energy siphoned from the planet ( more on metal separately) the colonists have adopted a green lifestyle  by using only renewable resources and eating a vegetable and fruit heavy diet with a lot of fish as well. The people tend to be adapted to high pressure making their neurons fire faster increasing their reaction times and reflexes as well as tighter wound muscle fiber. ( more on the colonist physically later)

Cascadium- This is the metal that the fissures and canyons of southern Cascadia produce. there are other Metals and Minerals mined her by the Cascadians but these are generally exported. Cascadium once refined  can be used in one of 2 ways, it can be forged and used to build anything other metals would be used for, but for the Cascadians who have harnessed the  energies of the planet and star that  creates the cascadium they can simply  grow things out of the cascadium. While ships, vehicles or structures are being built  skilled technicians are working within the  growing cascadium  laying wire and other internal components which are then   surrounded by the cascadium. moving parts are created by the cascadium forming moving pistons or seams  that when closed are nigh invisible. Cascadian constructs are literally all 1 solid piece of cascadium, granting it much higher structural integrity. Due to the way it is constructed it also is able to form incredibly complex shapes making for ornate buildings and very fast maneuverable ships.  

Military-
         The Military forces of Cascadia are very cut and dry being the only intelligent and as of yet discovered only living land animal aside from insects on Cascadian military troops kept to a small number and themselves handle mostly a police like duty though they are highly trained and are all outfitted with a  cascadium plated armor, similar to the old earth kevlar lined armors.
- On a Side note there are special forces and military recon squads that serve a purpose similiar to real army personel. Their Armors are a bit more advanced and as such costly. they are divided into 3 teirs of armor. All the specialized armors are grown in the same fashion as the ships.
      Light: this armor is  designed to enhance movement speed, agility, balance and is upgradeable for sniper and recon units to allow for stealth fields and enhanced vission setting
     
      Medium: This armor type is the median point between the heavies and the lights. Sturdy enough to take a beating but light enough as to allow the range of motion needed for true assualt troops.Upgradeable for communication, infantry and command positions.
        Heavy: These are the walking tanks, they can take a pounding and dish it out 10 fold. These armored units are upgradeable to heavy support and artillery. Designed for stability when dishing out rapid fire heavy ordinance they are anything but quick.

Clothing- The clothing of Cascadia is fairly simply, Mostly medium warm colors and whites. Very practical with the look being secondary. For Example Ashara wears very simple white and khaki cloths with an Olive cloaks.

Government- The Governing body of Cascadia is the Cascadian Council, the CC. The council is voted by the people of the many provinces of the inhabitable ring. The "head" of the council is very much a figure head though if he/she is charismatic they can wield a fair amount of power. The head is taken on a rotating  cycle between the families of the first 4 Colony ships to arrive at Cascadia centuries ago. The Current Head of the Council is Ashara Cyralis

Military command Structure-
The Cascadian space corp command structure is split into 2 bodies, the CSCDC (Cascadian Space Corp Dock Command) which handles the day to day running of current missions and defensive lines and the overall run of the docks. and then the CSCC the Cascadian Space Corp Command is basically the pentagon of Cascadia. The military commander in chief who in times of great need can supersede the council and head council is the Marshal. The current Marshal is a man of 56 named Tyrus Zin, a battle hardened warrior whose family has been military since atleast WWII.

The Cascadia Space Corp is a different story then their ground forces. Due to Pirate activity throughout the  galaxy more military attention is paid to off world then on world. All of the Cascadian space corp ships are grown, but their are 2 ways they are grown. The first type of growth  grows the initial skeletal structure of the ship and while the technicians are  installing the working operational components, an equally skilled group of armorers are  installing  heavy metal alloy's around the  structure and as the inner layer of hull is growing the likewise add armored plates of the same metal to the hull before a second and final layer of cascadium is grown finishing the ship. This Method produces a heavily armored yet slow moving ship. The inner armor strengthening the outer hull and cushioning the inner hull These Heavies tend to be the Capital ships and Carrier class ships.

The second growth pattern for the space corp ships is Identical to the first save for the adding of the heavy alloy reinforcing. These ships  are much faster and much more maneuverable. That maneuverability coupled with cascadians reflexes make them quite formidable.

All Cascadian space cops  space craft are outfitted with a   shield to aid in dissipation of damage taken by hull. The large capital class ships have a much larger energy capacity thus allowing them to sustain much more damage, the smaller  Cruisers, frigates and corvettes have much smaller shield generators forcing them to more heavily rely on dodging and taking enemies out before their shields are compromised. The greatest weakness of the Cascadian ships is that due to their manufacture method  only minor to moderate damage to the outer hull can actualy be done, once the damage has exceeded a threshold of more than 45%  though the ship will likely be able to function it is the practice that the ship be re-refined into raw cascadium and  regrown.This fact puts further pressure on the pilots and commanders of all vessels due to the painstaking process and time needed to re-refine and then regrow a ship.

Economy- The Cascadian Economy was, until recently, a mostly self contained Economy. The only true exports being Cascadian mined and refined Neo-Titanium. Which was exported to all other colony worlds and smaller Stations in the area. Under the Guidance of Current Head Council Ashara Cyralis Cascadia has begun to export more of its agricultural and fishery bounty. Aswell as Opening several resort getaways along sections of Cascadia's gorgeous waterfront (see archive : https://crest-rp.forumotion.com/t52-media-the-beaches-are-open )) Cascadia has also begun construction of new Space port anticipating the larger scale space and trade traffic, re purposing an older station on the largest moon for a new special joint venture with Zeon.

Cascadian physiology- Cascadians are visibly not much different from modern humans. There are however some subtle differences. Cascadians have been mutated a fair amount due to Azure 99's cascading energy and the immense pressures on the planet. Cascadian eyes all seem to glow some hue of blue, from subtle mixes that are almost greenish to some that are closer to blueish violet. There are several families From Original colony vessels that have the rarest glow, a sapphire blue glow, an example would be current Head Council Ashara.
Noticeable differences aside Cascadians have been changed on a genetic level. Their muscle fibers grow in completely different ways, being woven tighter and stronger due to the pressure gives them unparalleled strength and speed based only on muscle function. Their bones have also reacted being denser and more concentrated with stronger minerals. Cascadian lungs are also better able to store air at higher water pressure. Finally the Cascadian brain has also mutated, firing electrical synapses faster and more efficiently makes their mental speed incredibly fast, coupled with their muscle structure Cascadian reaction time and physical coordination are nigh inhuman. These changes lend themselves very well for space operations, allowing for faster maneuvering and easier operation in high pressure and low pressure area's and allowing for more efficient recycling of air.

Laws- Cascadia is very much a bastion of freedom and fairness. It is a true socialist and one for all all for one society. There is a large amount of oversight but it is neither invasive or impersonal. People are cared for, and housed trained and employed. Cascadia's legal system is made in the same vein. Doing its best to care for and rehabilitate criminals. Criminals though are few and far between, the society simply doesnt leave much room for it to grow. Everyone has fair chance for education and to make their mark and their living so very rarely do Cascadian's turn to crime for a living, though it does happen. Most laws involve dealing with foreigners and how to deal with disputes. Similiar to the old earth country the U.S.A. Cascadia has a birth citizenship law, any child born planet side is considered a Cascadian citizen and eligible for any and all perks of the society

Intelligence Agency- Cascadia has an incredibly well appointed intelligence service. The Cascadian Intelligence Directive or C.I.D. Operates almost freely from Council or military oversight and has a fairly vast resource base. They recruit operatives, analysts and handlers from every walk of life caring only for the skills and abilities potential recruits display. Many operatives have been saved from prison and lives of crime simply because their skills and tenacity fit well within the C.I.D. program. The C.I.D. has been rumored to insert operatives into positions in pirate groups or other less then reputable groups not associated with any colony to expand their intelligence web, and has been speculated that instigating or assisting revolutionaries to push more humane ideals in other governments have began circulating. There is no confirmation of this
