[Diplomacy] Annual Conference of the Assembly

The sleek but classic design of the Assembly Chamber reached high above the bustling streets of the city of Tyton. It was time for 2339's Annual Conference of the Assembly, and all of the colony representatives were expected to be arriving soon. Urban security lined the packed city streets, keeping the on-lookers, media, and potential protestors at bay. Upon arriving to the planet Deysha-II, each representative would be offered a friendly entourage of security, transportation, and hospitality personnel to escort them through the busy avenues of Tyton and directly to the front steps of their meeting place. Expectations were high - the annual conference was an important deciding point for the next years' policies.

"The agenda of 2339 will soon be decided," one female reporter barked into a camera, "stay tuned in while our colonial representatives start to make their appearance! There's one of the cars arriving now!"

The car slowed to a halt before the media and the security. The door swung open forcefully and a younger, about thirty year old man, stepped out of the vehicle. His adorned a black armored uniform, resembling a sleeker version of Earthian Kevlar, with a high rise neck that stopped just below the chin. Across the left side of his face was a scar running from above his eyebrow across his unshaven lips. He walked through the crowd without much care to the attention he was being given as one of the first arrivals to the conference although nether did he seem irritated by it. He nodded to the escort and introduced himself.

"I am Jacob Markson, representative of Novelyse," he said calmly. "I take it from the crowd that I've come to the right place."

The crowd hummed with anticipation, watching Markson through the security blockades at the side of the street.

One of the officials, a professional-looking man clad in formal collared Deyshian attire, hopped forth from the security detail to greet the representative. "Yes, sir. Welcome to the Assembly Chamber. Come, come - let's get you inside." Markson would be led down the walkway towards the sleek building ahead of them. The Assembly Chamber. An icon in the city of Tyton and perhaps across the known world. It was a majestic testament to the beautiful city, and a symbol for the collaboration between colonies. Every pillar was straight and tall, and every pane of glass shined spotlessly in the warm Deyshian sunlight. "Right this way, Mr. Markson."

Meanwhile, another reported spotted the next car buzzing down the lane. "The next car is arriving!"

The incredibly luxurious looking black car pulled up and stopped a little bit after the representative from Novelyse arrived and their car pulled away. Stepping out of the car was a man in his late forties with a very clean and neatly trimmed black beard and short, professional looking hair with just the beginning signs of graying. He had on a very simple yet authoritative black suit on with a dark red tie. He walked over to the escort and introduced himself as well "My name is William Simmons, the representative from the O.M.N.E Corporation."

This representative was more recognizable to the crowd because of his very outward public identity. Some people seemed rather excited.

"A member of the O.M.N.E board is here - William Simmons," echoed one of the reporters into his camera.

Just as with Markson, an escort stepped forward to lead Simmons up security-encrusted walkway to the Assembly Chamber. He repeated the same friendly greeting. "Right this way, Mr. Simmons."

Markson followed the man down the lane, glancing over his shoulder to the new arrival.  His expression changed only slightly as he scanned the well dressed man who approached from behind.  He sighed, turning back to the guide and continued following him.  

"Perhaps I should have reconsidered the uniform, it appears that I am out of place," he said absently, without genuine thought or feeling.

The next Deyshian cruiser that arrived carried Clarity Davis, the representative of the ADR. Her research was perhaps more well-known than she was. She dressed conservatively and modestly, with her dusty blonde hair wrapped back in a bun and held taut with a sleek metallic hairpin. Her modern white and black-outlined blazer was neatly draped over a dark formal skirt and heels. She clutched a databook in her arm and delicately adjusted her glasses as she was greeted by the escort just as the others were. She made her way towards the Chamber along with the other representatives, offering a little absent-minded smile before she continued on her way. She looked like she could have just as well been one of the city officials that was bustling around to prepare for the Assembly meeting, instead of an intercolonial representative.

A car with black windows pulled up before the chamber, its door slowly opened and a much more recognizable face was revealed behind it.  Legislative Overseer of Novelyse Alexander Chase rose from the car and stepped out into full view, squinting due to the contrast from the shaded car to the bright natural light.  The fifty-year old was well toned for his age and, although he walked with a cane, stood with a commanding posture. Many would already have heard about the accident that led to his handicap from Datanet, his right leg had been severed at the knee during his service in the military.  Although he was in position to receive the highest technologically advanced prosthetic, he instead had his own limb surgically reattached.

William was told to make sure he paid very close attention to the other colonies, this was the beginning of O.M.N.E rise back into the galactic economy and they needed to scope out potential trade partners, he eyed the woman from the ADR and knew he would need to speak with her about her colony's research but was also deeply interested in the cybernetics from Novalyse, especially that leg, but he knew they would be a harder nut to crack. So he walked in the direction of the scientist and smiled warmly and said "Hello, I'm the rep from O.M.N.E, you are from the ADR correct?"

Clarity Davis looked up modestly from behind her glasses. "Hello," she nodded. "Yes. I'm from the ADR. It's nice to meet you." She briefly paused, glancing around at the crowds gathered across the city streets, watching them intently. "My name is Clarity." She offered a precise smile while subtly analyzing William.

William smiled and nodded "It's very nice to meet you Clarity, a pleasure... Now I hate to be so blunt but O.M.N.E Corporation is very interested in the research done by the ADR and would love to help fund the research, quite generously I may add, if we also get the benefits of said research."

She held up her polite smile, doing quite a good job of concealing her amusement at William's rather blunt proposal. "I'd have to discuss that with our Directors, and then see if I might propose that to our Senate," she answered like a true politician. "What research in particular interests your corporation?"

He nodded politely and kept his smile "Of course, of course, I knew you wouldn't be able to agree here and now I just wanted to get that out there."He chuckled quietly and said "Well, from what our CEO Richard Conner told me, apparently most of your work interests him. Your work with genetics, your...lunaculture, i believe it was called."

Clarity nodded her head, glancing down at the databook still tucked in the bend of her arm. "Absolutely, I'll be sure to pass the word on and we'll see what we can do. Thank you, Mr. Simmons."

The officials continued leading the colonial representatives inside the building. As they approached the massive glass front doors, they whirred open into a spotless, modern lobby area. The wall in front of them proudly displayed a glowing neon sign that read "IntraStellar Assembly" in a vibrant blue that matched the Deyshian ocean, which was visible from the tall windows that lined the lobby walls.

"Follow me, please," the escort guided them through the lobby and down a hallway. It seemed as if this building was designed to serve one purpose - a meeting hall for this Assembly. "I believe everyone is here. As soon as we all get settled in, you should be ready to get started." After a few security measures - detector checks, ID verification, and the like - the representatives would be led down another hall towards the Assembly Chamber. The escort entered a security code into a touchpad next to a set of solid metallic doors, and they hissed open to reveal the room.

There was a satiny black round table topped with a shimmering panel of glass. In the center was a holoprojector connected to the DataNet, currently displaying the symbol of the Assembly in the center of the room in 3D. Surrounding the table were black padded chairs, sleek and formal-looking. The room seemed rather sterile and free of cultural bias, except for a subtle line of wavy blue neon lights bordering the high ceiling - a distinctly Deyshian flair.

A few other representatives were already standing in front of their chairs, waiting for the others to come in so they could be seated. Most notably, there was the Prime Minister of Deysha-II, the rather opulent Rystoff Paras, beaming a big, welcoming smile. Next to him was his advisor, Carros Deyn, an older man with a more expectant expression. A few seats away from him was independent Assembly executive Amanda Krossman.

To the side of the room, there were a few exclusive videographers with data-recorders providing coverage of the meeting.

"Go ahead and take your seats, ladies and gentlemen! Thank you for coming. I trust that your time in Deysha has been wonderful so far!" Rystoff seemed to be a hospitable host, at least. "Come, come, make yourselves to home!"

He nodded "Thank you very much Clarity, its been a pleasure speaking to you." He gracefully excused himself and sighed, saying to himself so no one else would hear "Scientist my ass, if we told a scientist in one of these independent colonies we wanted to fund them they'd cream themselves. I'll just have to wait then I suppose, once she gets back there is no way those eggheads will refuse."

He made himself look proper and happy again and walked forward into the large room and smiled at the surroundings, it reminded him somewhat of the main boardroom of the corporation minus the blue neon lights and the round table of course. "As always my time here is a thing i treasure dearly Prime Minister, thank you for having us!"

Alexander walked slowly into the conference room after having his ID and Security check. His gate reasonable favored his right leg as he came to his seat. He smiled before greeting the Prime Minister.

"Thank you for the invitation Prime Minister, it is a pleasure," he stated briefly before turning to the others. "And hello fellow representatives."

:: A very sleek blue-ish silver colored car would pull up, in fact it seemed like it had no doors of any kind and seemed very organic and fluid in design. As it came to a silent stop a door did indeed open seeming to slide into itself as it opened. Out Stepped a young man in his early to mid 30's as it would seem wearing a very simple white and Khaki Long sleeved shirt tucked into dark brown pants and a simple pair of soft leather boots. His cloths in several spots where "adorned" with what appeared the same blue-ish silver metal. very much appearing only as accent pieces. He wore his sandy blonde hair tied back in a tight ponytail, his eyes like those of everyone on Cascadia an almost luminescent blue. He walked toward where the other delegates headed, and introduced himself to the security detail "I am Ashara Corvinus, from Cascadia" He then continued into the room.

Markson, according to the assembly agreement, waited outside the conference room until he detached nearly all of the enhancements installed in his body. Due to this, he was just inside the corridor before the assembly when Ashara arrived. He greeted him with a nod as he entered the room and moved to his seat.

The escort would catch up with Ashara and guide him through the security detail and into the meeting room alongside the others.

As the gathered representatives and officials were seated, a few formalities went underway. "Welcome, everyone," Amanda Krossman's voice was harsh and commandeering. "This is the Intrastellar Assembly of 2339." She listed off the names of those present. "Please refer to your agendas, so we can get started." Each seat had a holopad embedded into the glass tabletop in front of it, synchronized between each user. It read as follows:

"Agenda for the 2339 Assembly:

Brief introduction of Assembly Representatives
Current state of affairs
The floor will then be given for representatives to address their colony's well-being and concerns:
  I. Novalyse
  II. O.M.N.E Corporation
  III. Allied Demarchy of Reza
  IV. Cascadia
We will then field public questions from our I.D.E.A associate and conclude our Assembly."

"I'll begin, I suppose," Paras chuckled. "I'm Rystoff Paras, proud to be the Prime Minister of our lovely planet Deysha-II. I've been serving for, ah, let's see - since 2335 - so I've hosted this Assembly since then. I think I see a few familiar faces! We've accomplished a lot of great things between our people for those years, and I hope we can continue that this year. As always, I'm happy to have all of you here today." He gestured to his advisor, who introduced himself in turn as Carros Deyn, and then nodded to whoever may want to go next.

:: Ashara Stood up:: I am Ashara Corvinus of the planet Cascadia. This will be the first time I've represented my planet here at the assembly :: he would retake his seat::

William stood to introduce himself after the other rep and said "Hello everyone, my name is William Simmons a director on the board of O.M.N.E Corp, it's a pleasure to meet you all"

Alexander Chase stood from his seat and and spoke calmly.

"My name is Alexander Chase, Legislative Overseer of Novalyse. Our people have experienced a near constant war between ourselves and the aggressive wildlife of Novalyse since our settlement was established. Currently we are one of the highest technologically advanced colonies in the field of cybernetics which include small attachments such as telecommunication device," he turns to Markson who also rises and detaches a small plate from above his ear to show the representatives. "This small device is controlled completely internally through thought. Don't worry, Markson's device has been powered off for this assembly, but normally all he would need to do to connect to any technological device is simply use his thoughts. Beyond the small devices, we have developed hi-tech prostheses for those injured in the defense of our people. We have also developed many hi tech weapons as well as the newest innovation, bio engineered androids which supposedly are fully functioning and near indistinguishable with the naked eye. Due to these advances, our economy holds steady even in the instability of our surroundings."

Clarity Davis watched the other representatives with great interest, particularly the cybernetically advanced Novalysians, and then modestly spoke up after a few seconds when no one else did.

"I represent the A.D.R. My name is Clarity Davis. I know that I, for one, have looked over some of your technology, and it seems to be well advanced. Could you please elaborate on your conflict with the aggressive wildlife? I've not heard many details about it." She purposefully declined to touch the subject of the bio-androids yet. She figured it was controversial enough to wait for now.

William nodded in agreement "The same goes for me and O.M.N.E Corporation, your technology deeply interests us as does your conflict with the local inhabitants of your colony world. I would love to know more."
