Jeck's Interrogation (Covert Ops on Rescenta)

A small team of 5 cascadians would get onto Rescenta VIA  cargo ship from the space station. Once they arrived  they broke off into 3 groups one went alone to a hotel room they booked and set up a communications and listening relay post, at nightfall 2 would go to the university and begin to search Jecks office and computer copy his computers hard drive, the other 2 would likewise wait for sundown and  do the same with Jecks living arangement (house, apartment waht ever he had). The Listening agent would begin to monitor both teams keeping them appraised of  security patrols and anything else they needed aswell as  feeding them any info the Ships  broader listening area picked up

Jeck's office and condo were still mostly blocked off by security patrols due to the ongoing investigation and the trials. His office at the university would be locked down tightly because of the recent security concerns on campus and they wouldn't be able to enter easily without official authorization, but it seemed that his condo was vacant. His wife and kids had been relocated under a witness protection program, and it seemed like most relevant data - his personal DataBook, phone, and files - had already been swept up by ADR police and investigators. His home office had some pictures of him, a middle-aged bald guy with a half-assed smile, and his young and good-looking family. There were a few loose papers around which didn't seem to be relevant, however if the investigators took a closer look at them, they might be able to find some scrap of information that would help them.

:: the investigators at the house would go over the place with a fine tooth comb looking for anything of possible interest, the team lead would contact the comm officer:: " need to know where they brought the data book and his electronic communications, and computer hard drive, see if u can either get copies or get us a window to get into the ADR security building and make our own"

:: the team at the university would hunker down on the roof in the shadows and put their own call into the comm officer:: University is locked up tight, we need a window, and a diversion. We saw a electrical transformer box about 2 blocks away see if u can cause a false black out in 15 minutes, I'll have a pyrotechnic charge placed to simulate and explosion, that should clear the area of ADR security for awhile, long enough for us to get inside:

There were a few miscellaneous files, pictures, and correspondences that may be of interest. One in particular was a printed chain of emails between Jeck and an ADRA Genetics Committee chairman, which did not specifically mention any matters of Eosene interest, but nonetheless sparked some curiousity. There was also a photograph of Jeck in his old office at the ADRA. Perhaps it could also have some clues. Other than that, there were also a few discs of old files and information - nothing relating to his work or research - but they could also swipe those to comb through later.

"Goddamn Eosa are at it again," grumbled the police chief after dispatching his nearest four security patrols to the substation. He had to pull all but one patrol from the campus grounds to investigate, suspecting that the blackout was caused by some sort of foul tampering - probably the Eosa making another 'statement' - and he had to have it under control quickly before people started to panic. There would still be security on-campus, but they'd have a much better chance of getting in now.

:: The house team would collect everything they found even the old discs::

::The university team would take the opening and make their way over the side of the roof and down the sides to his windows and jimmy them open and quietly enter and begin sifting through his office files and his contacts lists and computer files and what ever had not been taken::

:: The Comm officer would monitor the ADR security patrols and as they'd get closer or farther away he'd cause random systems and location errors and comm to transmit 1 way or no ways to keep them busy, he'd also start contacting searching for the confiscated materials and if denied copies getting their locations and planning how to get to them. The Comm Officer being the real BRAIN of the team::

The covert ops team would be successful in lifting a good deal of information from Jeck's home and his office at the University. They'd have to act quickly, as ADR security personnel were on alert within a few moments and were beginning to trace the comm officer and the location of the interferences.

Meanwhile, Jeck Hawkins awaited his sentencing in a highly guarded detainment cell across the city, totally oblivious to the fact that everything he owned was being rifled through not only by the ADR but by Cascadia as well.

The Comm officer would piggy back his signal to some random data net cafe to keep his location concealed and radio his team:: " Alright time to wrap up I need to disconnect or they'll be able to begin tracing again. head back here and we'll start to sift this data"
:: with that He'd cut comms and disconnect from the ADR systems and send an update to Kenji Wright:
" Mr Wright, I am the supervising officer for the cascadian detachment currently on Rescenta, We've accomplished the first priority mission and gather extra intell that your people missed, or left behind. We do need a favor, it appears that a large ammount of intel was removed and has been moved any assistance in getting access to or a location to infiltrate, I assume you would rather us not need to infiltrate a sensitive ADR intelligence facility so any help in gaining unhindered acces would be appreciated, please reply to this email, even though it states no reply number it will still be recieved thank you

Mr. Wright had the message forwarded on to one of his cabinet members, who then referred it to a Secretary of Internal Defense.

"Concerning the Cascadian covert ops team operating in Rescenta:

Please be advised that copies of such documentation will be made available for pick-up for one of your agents tomorrow at exactly 12:05AM, local time, from the Sergeant's office at Rescentan Military Outpost R-51Z. Bring a copy of this notice with you, on official letterhead as it was presented, and be prepared to show ID and pass high security clearance upon arrival. At this time, we would like to discuss with you the nature of our findings.

Thank you for your ongoing work in this matter.

ADR Internal Defense Department"

:: the Comm officer would respond:: ADR IDD I and one of my field ops guys will be there, I'll sift our data tonight before the meeting hopefully we'll find some pertinent information to share with you and get to the bottom of this, our feeling is that Jeck may have been a pawn or middle man to a larger entity that wanted the EOSA to appear violent and were willing to expend innocent lives to do it."

:: once his team had reassembled at their safe house they'd begin analyzing data and cataloging timeframes for communications and any data they found::

That night, they'd be able to find some interesting information concerning Jeck and his activities. Most of the juicy stuff had already been picked through, and the Cascadians were mostly left with scraps of details about his personal life - but it was interesting, nonetheless.

Email chain to ADRA Genetics Committee Chairman: Mostly irrelevant as it pertained to Eosa. It discussed new research projects, issues around the workplace, students who frequently missed class at the Academy, a funding request for a new office chair, and so on. But after extensive combing through, it contained a few references from Jeck and the Chairman such as "the project," "our plans to keep things down," and "how to cover it, just in case." The Chairman reminded Jeck to "not send sensitive info through data-mails; just call me or stop by my office instead." The email chain ended two days before the UOR shooting, probably the day that Jeck left Reza for his flight to Rescenta for the conference.

Framed picture of Jeck in his office at ADRA: Seemingly normal picture at first, but close investigation would note that in the background of the photo, there was a framed certificate of appreciation for his scholarship in ADRA's Rezaian Paleobiology Research Committee, or RPRC. This seems strange because Jeck's specialty is genetics and he works solely within the Genetics Committee, not paleobiology. There is also a book on the shelf behind him titled "Advances of Research on Primitive Rezaian Humanoids: Part III" written by another ADRA scholar.

Old, dusty, torn paper files on ADRA letterhead: Most notably, a disclosure of dismissal from the RPRC dated a year and a half after the former picture was taken, and one year before the UOR shooting. It basically reads that Jeck is "duly thanked for his contributions to the field of paleobiology, however we feel that your specialty and area of expertise lies in the field of genetics and...due to ADRA policies that do not allow for advancement in our committee because of your position in the Genetics Committee, we feel it would be in the best interests of the committees for you to focus on your previous studies."

An old disc tucked in the back of a drawer: Contained some family pictures, mostly of Jeck, his wife, and their kids on vacation, at family events, and so on. A few of his dog, an ugly Schnauzer or something. Most notably, there was a candid picture of some kind of university event, apparently a "family picnic" sort of gathering with people socializing around a table of food...after analyzing the dozens of people in the crowd at the picture, the Cascadians might be able to see that there were a few Eosa in the crowd - including Rhaetia in the far corner.

At the designated time, there was a team of ADR security present at the meeting location. They wore different uniforms than the regular police and military presence of Rescenta. They wore sleek, formal black coats over silvery body armor marked with the insignia of the Senate.

"We're with the IDD. Security paperwork, documents, and identification, please."

:: the comm officer and the other field op both gave the security paperwork and such , the comm officer carried a brief case with the catalogued orignal copies ( they made copies and kept them). We have made a few finds but nothing HUGE hopefully together our 2 sets of findings shed some light

After going through extensive security, the armed Senate officials led the Cascadians back to a small, quiet meeting room towards the back of the building that was well-guarded and out of sight, even from the lower-clearance military and officials. They offered them seats around a sleek glass table with inlaid datapads, with some important-looking men and women sitting across from them, seemingly both military and civilian.

General North nodded briskly and semi-politely to the Cascadians. "Welcome. So, what'd you find?"

:: the comm officer would set the briefcase down open it and slide a folder across the table:: Seems some connections to genetics research and paleobiology, and what appears to be something that a chairman wanted kept off official records, among some other pictures. What have you found? As it is it seems the the Proffesor was the orchestrator of this attack ut he himself may have been just a peice

North picked up a stack of papers just a few inches thick, tapped them halfways together on the table, and glanced over the summary on the front.

"That's the conclusion that we've come to. Jeck's just someone's lackey, but he did a good job covering his tracks. And we have no idea who's pulling his strings, but the GC chairman over at the goddamn ADRA seems to be the next logical step." He offered the comm officer the papers, which would have a few details that had been scoured from Jeck's personal data...but like the Cascadians' proof, it was nothing significant.

"Problem is, the Senate is being pushed by some unhappy Novalysian folks for the death penalty. Don't mistake that I give a shit whether the pencil-neck professor lives or dies, but...if he gets axed for this, then we lose everything he knows. Investigations pretty much end there. So, we've got some work to do before that execution goes through."

An advisor from down the table spoke up. "Sir, that's classified info that we can't discuss with the Cascadians - "

"Oh, shut up. They're on our side on all of this, unlike everybody else. Besides, if they watch the news, they could figure out what's happening on their own with our spineless Senate. Anyway," North continued, "records show that Jeck wanted to get into paleobiology a few years back. No clue why; he's been a genetics guy since he was an undergrad. I guess your evidence here shows that he did get in, and then got ousted. Interesting, because one thing in the ADR that gets a lot of backs stabbed is academic rivalries and bruised scientific ego's. So maybe he's playing someone, or someone's playing him, or he's trying to take out some hidden frustrations. Any other ideas on that?"

it seems atleast to us that someone or a group of someones actively wants to push the Eosa down to a point of being nothing more than experiment subjects, or on the worse side be exterminated all together. I am leaning to the prior, their are aspect of them that can be useful to both genetics and paleobilogy if I am correct in my understanding of the 2 fields. The largest question is which one was using Jeck to get to the other, or is there another player. As for the execution as long as its not public, then there are plenty of ways around it. Fake it and then we simply tell him, that we've got ALL the time in the world, and if he cooperates we can relocate him off world where he and his family can try to start a different life with a different identity obviously. We'd also be very willing to help with the interrogation.
:: puts a hand to his ear::..... there are some other question i have, specificly about the limits placed on Eosa. Why are they not allowed to go off world? And what would the windfall likely be if an Eosa was found off world?

General North took note of the Cascadian placing his hand up against his ear. At about the same time, an officer buzzed over North's comm unit, something about flight control. "Sir, there has been a report of -"

"Goddamnit, I'm busy. Let someone else handle it."

"But, sir -"

"That's an order, I'm busy! Now, then," he turned back to the Cascadian. "I think you're probably right. I'll be looking into both committees, seeing what they've got to say for themselves. And I do like the concept of making everyone think that he's executed - particularly because Novalyse is putting the pressure on - but I think that could get real messy, real quick. If anyone found out we staged a fake execution...there'd be hell to pay, within and without." He cleared his throat and then answered the Cascadian's other questions. "Eosa are allowed to leave, it's just a damn pain in the ass. Not my call, though, but...with the laws the way they are, you've got people complaining that their research subjects are escaping, you've got the risk of a genetic fuck-up if they start interbreeding, they're not "stable" or fit for society or what-have-you, and aside from all of that it'd be a PR nightmare if their 'rights movement" activists got somewhere that they could get up on a soapbox and proclaim to the world about everything that our government is doing wrong. I've had to send soldiers out before to stop rebel Eosa groups from trickling out and collecting, because they have a nasty habit of forming up and either trying to make anti-ADR statements across the whole damn world or they start putting together cluster bombs to chuck at our senators' heads during speeches. It's just not a safe situation right now, so we keep them here where we can keep track of 'em easier, one way or another, or get them in line if they're looking to cause trouble. Those are my orders, at least." He eyed the Cascadian skeptically for a moment. "What's that got to do with anything here?"

Nothing, was just a question i was instructed to get some insight on.... if I may speak to you privately General North?

General North shrugged and glanced across the table at his assembled military personnel. "Well? You heard the man! Give us some space." He waved his hand dismissively and the others filed out to wait outside the door.

:: the field op guy walked over and stood outside the door aswell, the comm op walked closer to general north:: The Eosa Rhaetia, is she the target of internal investigation?

He pondered for a few moments, mulling the name over in his head as if it wasn't familiar. "I don't know much about that one. She's the one that was speaking at the conference? Clarity's little pal? Nah, she's not a trouble-maker at all. A good kid, I've heard, with all things considered...she was under investigation for being at the conference. I'm sure that it was no coincidence that the whole thing went down just then, but frankly, we've got no clue if she played much of a role in it. I don't think she knew about it. My investigators said she seemed terrified of the whole damn situation, really." He looked straight at the Cascadian. "Why?"

For diplomatic reasons this needs to stay between us, Clarity will be notified shortly, but she is currently with Head Council Ashara on his ship by now they are off world. He was escorting her home after their questioning her dorm apartment was completly ransacked, someone had gotten in without forced entry and had torn the place apart.

"Huh..." North leaned back in his chair a bit, shrugged, and then rested his closed fists down on the table softly. "And can you tell me why in the hell he took her on his ship then instead of notifying us? I have a feeling he didn't even mention his decision to get it cleared first..." He shook his head heavily and sighed. "Not good at all. God-damn, that's the last thing we needed."

From what i was told he wanted to wait till they were off world to contact mrs clarity directly, I decided myself to tell you since the break in may be connected. Ashara is in his mid 20's I believe he is acting the part of knight in shining armor, and his report very clearly stated that she had nothing to do with the attacks and I believe that, though as the brightest star amoung the Eosa for she very well may be a target being on that ship might be the safest place for her

"Safest place for her, maybe," North sighed, "but probably the farthest from the safest thing for the ADR. This decision is going to muck things up even worse. If they weren't already off the damn planet, I'd have had every departing ship locked down. Can you imagine if people find out that we let an Eos leave, right after that shooting...shit. Well, what's his plan, then? Is he taking her to Cascadia? Just staying in orbit until things blow over? Can you patch me through to him at least, so I can find out what the hell's on the young gentleman's mind?"

I will see what if i can get you through, in the meantime I know that he is contacting clarity
