PostSubject: [General - Media/Diplomacy] Voice of the Eosa   Tue Jan 21, 2014 12:08 am

The conference hall at the University of Rescenta in ADR territory was prepared to host several intercolonial representatives, dignitaries, and researchers - whoever wanted to accept the invitation, really. Clarity Davis herself was in attendance, as well as a few experts and the University staff most knowledgeable about the situation with the Eosa. The public had gotten wind of the conference from the Assembly broadcast and, as such, there was much activity buzzing around the major Rescenta space station. A few bold protestors outside the front gates (some from each end of the conflict) were very closely watched by the increased security forces.

The incoming spaceships would be processed through the Rescenta landing station and customs processing, and brought safely inside the moon-facility's breathable atmosphere. A huge transluscent dome supported by metallic pillars reached high above the rocky, silvery surface which housed the ADR's small but advanced moon-city. The University was the largest building in sight, and it would be hard to miss. Security would be standing by to help escort the foreigners to the entrance.

There were five men from O.M.N.E 3 of their head scientists and 2 marketing and PR officials. They walked off the ship and over to the security forces and their leader introduced themselves "My name is Jordan Aparo, I'm one of O.M.N.E's lead scientists and me and my colleagues were sent to see one of the Eosa?"

One of the security officers popped the visor of his helmet up. The members of his squad kept a close eye on everything around them. Most had handguns, but a few had SMG's and one had a rifle of some sort. In the distance, they would be able to see a riot squad with shields standing near the perimeter of the University. They seemed to be prepared for some kind of confrontation. "Could I see some I.D., Mr. Aparo? Normally, we wouldn't ask. Just a precaution for today's event."

:: A smaller than average size Chronicle corvette would dock at the moon station, it seemed about the size for only a few people, after it landed and momentarily powered down the bottom in the mid-ship area slid apart and a ramp seemed to extend from the hull itself, Ashara dressed in much the same style as his previous appearance albiet his top seemed to be a ribbed material and there was more of the blue steel color cascadium piece on his person walked toward the security check point::

The security personnel saw the other Cascadian and Novalysian representatives approach and, after verifying them as well, they led the group towards the University. The officer nodded cordially. "Right this way, then." The squad escorted the representatives down one of the Moon-Station's narrow streets. Anyone that had ever been to Rescenta before could tell that this wasn't the normal atmosphere; the city was usually rather peaceful, and security personnel would only be seen infrequently.

The beautiful University of Rescenta was only a few street-blocks away. It was a simple but sturdy and elegant building with tall, clean lines, glossy windows, and silver metallic trim. It had a sprawling, lush green terrace in the front (complete with decorative Rezan flora and softly gurgling fountains), lined by fences and hologates. They would be led through a basic security check at the front gate, and then down the quad and into the front gates of the University itself. The interior design was classic, borrowing lightly from the academic Earthian architecture of Greek origin, but had a distinctly professional modern flair. Students of all ages fluttered down the hallways.

The representatives were then directed to the conference room. Inside the large room was a long table, lined with important-looking scientists, professors, and officials. Enough chairs were saved for all of the intercolonial guests. There was an open area in the front of the room, where a lecture podium stood, and a data-screen stretched across the wall behind it. A few dozen chairs had been packed into the back of the room to accommodate as large a public audience as possible, waiting noisily for the conference to begin.

The O.M.N.E personnel admired their beautiful surroundings, the O.M.NE station had few places like this. Once they go to the college they sat where there was seats reserved for the five of them and waited, whispering to themselves about how this was going to go. All of them, including the marketing professionals, seemed incredibly eager to see the Eosa and learn more about them.

Once all the representatives were inside and seated, the doors to the conference hall were shut. A few security guards stayed inside, just to keep an eye on things.

Clarity Davis stood briefly, and the room hushed down. "Thank you all for coming. I'm Dr. Davis, the Senate Representative and head of the Sociology Committee here at UOR. Before we continue, I'd like to ask that everyone please turn off any recording devices, cellular phones, datapads, referential cybernetic implants, or anything else capable of capturing images or audio. That's at the request of the UOR security personnel. I'll give everyone a moment, and then I'll let our host come in, introduce herself, and she'll take it from there."

O.M.N.E complied with all of the aforementioned security protocols and turned off all such devices and put them away in their pocket or bags that had with him to hold said devices. They sat patiently, waiting for their hostess to come in and talk.

Alexander sat off to the side of the room and leaned his cane against the table as Clarity spoke, having already removed many of his cybernetic implants he just sat there and waited for the rest of them to finish powering their devices down.  Beside him sat a young woman, most likely in her early twenties, with blonde hair half tied behind her.  She wore a black jacket over a white button down shirt tucked neatly into black pleated skirt.  She detached the telecommunication device that wrapped around her head and pressed a small button on it before setting it delicately on the table before her.

A few quiet minutes passed. Clarity tapped something into her datapad, and then turned it off and laid it in front of her.

A door at the back of the room, behind and to the side of the lecture podium, whirred open. A slender silhouette stepped forward, wrapped in a flowing, hooded cloak the color and texture of rich and glassy velvet. Her movements were seamless, feminine, and almost catlike. The figure stepped forward - a young female, lean and svelte, who revealed her face as she stepped up to the podium and nonchalantly dropped her hood.

The Eos girl stood motionless before them, except for her sharply blie eyes savagely scanning around the room. Her skin was noticeably much more pale than common for the Eosa, and her hair was tucked back in an assymetrical assembly of braids. Perhaps the most stunning feature of the Eos was her markings - ethereal, geometric designs that organically crossed her face in sheer silver. She was a sight to behold. At first glance, one would pass over her as being simply another human - but, upon focusing one's gaze on her for just a few seconds, it was clear that she had an otherworldly, inhuman air about her. Something more primitive and intrinsic, like an effortless, innate grace that was unspoken.

Her voice was soft and reserved. She spoke one simple word. "Hello."

The O.M.N.E corporation officials were interested as soon as she walked out, she was clearly not some savage creature or sub human thing that some sides were saying but they had to see more to be able to tell if they were intelligent enough to be allowed full rights. They needed to hear more than just hello, but it was fascinating to them none the less.

Ashara wasn't sure what he was expecting but this beautiful young woman wasn't it, he was utterly captivated by her eyes, so similar to his own peoples but yet innately different at the same time, he paid rapt attention and hoped he'd be able to meet her.

The Eos paused for a few long moments, as if waiting for someone to respond to her greeting. It seemed that she chose every word very carefully, plucking them one-by-one like she lacked a certain familiarity or comfort with speaking.

"My name is Rhaetia," she spoke quietly and the people in the back of the room strained to hear. "You have all come today to hear me speak?" She slowly fidgeted with the ties of her cloak, taking her time to look at every individual in the room and study their body language.

"Go ahead, Rhaetia" one of the older male scientists at the table spoke reassuringly. "Everyone would like to hear what you have to say. About the Eosa, remember?"

"Of course I remember," her gentle demeanor peaked for a second. "What do all of you people already know?" Her eyes hovered over the foreigners that she had never seen before. She analyzed them - their physique, their facial structure, their expressions. "You're not from the University. What do you all know?"

Jordan answered after a few moments and said "all we know is there are some social issues surrounding the Eosa, and we were asked for an official opinion on the matter. So instead of just listening to data from someone else we thought we would come and check it out for ourselves."

"You would like to study me," Rhaetia said plainly and without bias. "Well, go on. I am here to answer your questions."

The students seemed perplexed. They were expecting some sort of presentation or lecture, not an intimate Q&A session with an Eos. Rhaetia seemed unintimidated.

Hello Rhaetia, My name is Ashara from Cascadia. ::he smiled warmly::
We were asked on our opinions of how the ADR should handle and treat the Eosa, and at least for me the opinion i voiced several days ago at the assembly are not diminished if anything their stronger. What I am most interested in is what do you think Rhaetia about what you want, what the other Eosa want.

The young girl, Serah Lawson, leaned forward with her elbows propped on the table before her. She watched the Eos as she came in and introduced herself, studying her - particularly the markings that cover her face. She began in a reassuring tone as if not to frighten the delicate creature.

"Hello, Rhaetia. From what I heard from the Assembly conference, it seems that your people are morally divided because of your rights in the ADR. How do you feel about this?"

Rhaetia took a few long moments to contemplate her answers. Her eyes scanned across the crowd curiously.

"Eosa and humans are very different. I have lived with humans all of my life. I've come to know you rather well, I think. You are complex, and capable of great thought, but always changing your minds." She paused as the corners of her lips turned up, just a bit, and then continued. Eosa humor? "I know more humans than Eosa. So, perhaps it may be that my opinion is not the same as my brothers and sisters. But, I will say this much. Humans love. Eosa love. Humans fight. Eosa fight. Humans die. Eosa die. We have all of this in common. I want to know what is different. Why don't you all tell me what you think is different?" She made a graceful, unpretentious sweeping gesture across the room, inviting everyone to speak.

In all honesty at this point the only difference in my opinion is your genetic make up, and that in no way should impact a sentient, intelligent species. :: still couldnt take his eyes off her, though not in that creepy way, in that endearing my god your gorgeous way::

Rhaetia tilted her head thoughtfully, and her eyes danced around the back of the room for a moment.

"I think you're right. That's what the Eosa on Reza seem to think too. All the Eosa which aren't 'groomed' to follow an outside ideology. But, some would say that I have been, here at the University."

The reps from O.M.N.E whispered amongst themselves, they obviously felt like humans did emotionally, but how intelligent were they?

Jordan spoke up and said "Now, please dont take this the wrong way you seem very similar to us and I don't quite understand where the issue with giving you rights is at this point, but people say emotionally you are as evolved and mature as any of us, and this is obvious..but they say you are not as intellectually able. What is your response to this?"

Alexander simply sat and observed the Eos without expressing his thoughts clearly to the others. Within himself, he knew he must represent his colony's ideals and not his own, just as he had done in the Assembly. Because of the conflict brewing within him he chose to remain silent and allow the Lawson second born to handle any questions posed by the Eos herself.

Serah, who was still interestedly leaning forward, smiled very warmly toward the Eos. Her demeanor was not just a mere act but a sincere feeling of gentleness.

"Your people sound emotionally developed but, as the O.M.N.E Corp. representatives have mentioned, the division is more centered around intellectual functioning. As you explain your opinion I am able to see that you are very similar to humans but, if I may ask, what is it that you see is different between you and I? I want to understand how you see yourselves, not how they see you."
